This transitional kitchen project, which is a fairly small for a home in Connecticut uses the white color scheme to optically open up the space. The oven is provided in a very cute looking, unique black finish with intricate silver and golden design details that become the focal point within this elegant kitchen space. The kitchen layout chosen by the client is in a U-shaped form, which definitely provided a certain spacing challenge for our Modiani kitchen design team.
The kitchen appliances are very large, and it was important for the client to create a functional space that also provided seating. This is why there is ample of seating provided around the kitchen island, with the three designer stools in the same black tone as the kitchen’s oven providing perfect views of the cooking area, kitchen and exteriors through the beautiful, huge windows that also provide a lot of natural light.
A peninsula butcher block top kitchen island was incorporated into the interior space, furthering the overall U-shape characteristics of the kitchen layout. Although the peninsula is fairly narrow, it adds a great deal of functionality to the space and is visually significant to the overall aesthetic of the room.
The butcher block is made of high quality walnut wood and features bead board in the back. Other intricate characteristics of this transitional luxury kitchen project include three piece moldings at the ceiling of the kitchen, which goes around the entire perimeter of the room, a Carrera mosaic backsplash, white painted maple inset kitchen cabinets, and beaded inset cabinet door. The wooden flooring in a light natural wood provide another nice contrast to this kitchen, which gets nicely lit up not just through the ample of natural daylight, but also the beautiful lamps hanging from the ceiling as well as the under-cabinet lighting from the bottom of the wall cabinetry.
