The family hosts a lot of gatherings, and therefore wanted a space where they could host guests and remain in contact with their guests even while in the kitchen preparing a meal. For day to day use, the family wanted to be able to essentially use the family room while being physically in the luxury kitchen. It was important to the family that no matter where one was in their new Italian high-end kitchen, eye contact with the television in the family room was possible.
Because the family is very active and youthful and also enjoys hosting a lot of dinner parties and other gatherings, it was important to create a great deal of efficiency in the custom kitchen. To address this desire, Modiani created two working stations and installed two sinks – one beneath a window on an outer wall and one within the island in the center of the kitchen. The island also features extra counter space so that family members could sit for a quick meal at the island, a feature that was very important to this on-the-go family. Modiani installed two pull out pantries and additional cabinetry in the dining area of the family room, creating a great deal of storage space for the family.
