Despite embracing a modern feel, the homeowners wanted to retain the warmth of the original traditional kitchen. To create a warm but ultimately modern aesthetic, our Modiani kitchen designers used dark elm laminate in a glossy kitchen cabinet finish, combined with acid finish glass cabinets for the upper wall cabinetry, in a beige-brown kitchen finish. A warm wooden butcher block kitchen countertop was integrated into the end of the kitchen island, which is used as a dining table that is supported by modern custom stainless-steel rectangular bases. Around the integrated kitchen table made of a high-end wood material, the same as used for the butcher block, up to five people can enjoy their meals or social gatherings while relaxing in very stylish, white designer chairs made of leather. A similar tone as of the chairs can be found in the white marble kitchen flooring with a natural pattern in a gray brown tone.
Features of this contemporary Italian kitchen include an individual bar unit with an LED television installed over it and fully integrated kitchen appliances including an oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, cooktop, and hood. The kitchen appliances and hood in the space are provided by the German high-end appliance firm Gaggenau. While the freezer and refrigerator are fully covered up by our custom kitchen cabinetry, certain appliances, like the oven, are left exposed, hence becoming an integral design element and detail. The layout of the kitchen is an L-shape, with another tall kitchen cabinet wall on the opposite side, almost making it a U-shape design. It was designed around the interiors and custom design elements of the home, incorporating the window in the best possible way in order to allow for plenty of natural daylight while preparing a meal.
