Modern Italian Kitchen – Downtown Manhattan, NYC

This unique modern Italian kitchen in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City was designed by our senior kitchen designer Gregory Hitchcock. This residential high-end design project is a visually stunning confluence of several design elements, including a large lighting fixture that became a focal point of this unique interior design. This space features our Cesar Maxima 2.2 Italian kitchen model as well as a waterfall kitchen countertop island from Sapienstone in a white finish that is half an inch thick. The kitchen countertop extends over the kitchen cabinetry, which allows people to enjoy their meals on the so-called breakfast bar while spending time in the kitchen.

For this stunning residential custom kitchen design project, kitchen wall cabinets were chosen in a white silk lacquer finish, paired with grey elm laminate on the lower kitchen cabinets. Our kitchen design team opted to use the same kitchen countertop finishes materials as used for the backsplash on the left side of the room, and cabinet material was used as a backsplash to the right side of the kitchen countertop. This backsplash continues behind the Italian kitchen shelves. Light wall cabinets here complement a minimalist cooking hood to the right of the room and an open shelf to the left, which give this contemporary kitchen its open and airy feeling.

The floor was done in a dark wood finish in order to create a visual contrast within the space. Although many modern kitchen designs integrate kitchen appliances into the cabinetry so as to hide them, here, the kitchen appliances were left visible due to the client’s preference for stainless steel to become part of the modern kitchen design. To embrace this, stainless steel appliances were left visible in the space, allowing them to punctuate the rest of the design elements, create an industrial look and serve as a visual focal point. The kitchen island, a substantial feature both for aesthetics and for functionality within this interior space in Downtown Manhattan, features three seating opportunities. Otherwise, there is also plenty of space for guests to gather around the kitchen island when invited for a meal, a family event or a proper dinner party. The innovative lamps and interior design elements are another focus within this contemporary space, and gives the kitchen a nice, unique touch.
